Our Yoga Retreats are made for you

We work with teachers who inspire us with their love of yoga and individual style of practise. We hope to inspire you too with the accent being on discovering space and flexibility through stillness and breathing rather than aiming for perfect postures.

So you maybe new to Yoga or your mat may be worn with age, our events are for all of you. All you need is an interest and real desire to reconnect with yourself, your body and be still in the space that yoga helps you to create.

- Your usual yoga gear

- Yoga mat - Blanket or wrap

- Thick socks

- Towel

- Hairdryer

- Toiletries

- Dressing gown or similar may be useful.

General Information about your Yoga Retreat


Arrival: From 4pm on the Friday

Tea will be served at 5pm, with dinner normally at 7pm.

If you are arriving late or missing the evening meal, please let us know. If you are arriving by car, please come down the main ABBEY drive near the Abbey and follow the signs to the additional/visitor’s parking which is just beyond Alban Roe House.

Departure: From 4pm on the Sunday


If anyone would like to share taxi rides from York to Ampleforth let us know & we can put you in touch with each other. (Travel information listed separately.)


Some mobiles work in this valley, but the signal is very faint and unreliable.

There is a coin box in the kiosk in the entrance hall for incoming and outgoing calls for guests (01439 766830).

Should you wish to use the sports facilities in St Alban Centre, we will have a copy of their current timetable.

We have a small number of spare rugs & yoga blocks for use.


Some people are very sensitive to aromas so please no strong perfumes.

Some people may wish to be silent during the Retreat.

If at any point during the Retreat you need to rest or relax – listen to your body and do so.

There will be a comfortable quiet room for resting in between sessions and meals.

The Yoga room will also be available between sessions.


The Retreat is fully catered for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Please inform us, if you have not already done so, of any special dietary requirements.

There will be fruit & drinks available throughout the weekend – just help yourselves.

Alittle bit about your hosts

Ruth and Jules have worked together for years at Kirkbymoorside Natural Health Centre. They are both reflexologists and massage therapists, Ruth specialises in maternity treatments, Jules in Aromatherapy for women and Metamorphic Technique.

“We are friends, we love yoga and our work - creating an environment where healing is possible. We have created the ‘little yoga’ space for ourselves and for other like-minded souls. We want to go a little further down the path of finding our connection and stillness amongst all the doing”
